ShareShows ("we", "our", "the app") is a social streaming recommendation app that helps friends share what they're watching and rotate streaming subscriptions. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your streaming service passwords or login credentials.
We do not track what you actually watch on any streaming service.
We do not sell your data to third parties.
We do not use your data for advertising.
We do not store your actual phone number — only a one-way hash for contacts matching, which cannot be reversed.

3. How We Use Your Data

Recommendations: Your ratings and watch status are shared with friends you've connected with.
Friend discovery: Hashed phone numbers are compared server-side to find friends already on ShareShows. Raw numbers are never stored or transmitted.
Private groups: Your taste groups are completely private — only you can see them. Friends don't know which groups they're in.
Service availability: We use the TMDB API to look up which shows are on which streaming services. Your country code determines regional availability.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only in these ways:

With your friends: Your display name, profile photo, recommendations, and watch status are visible to people you've accepted as connections.
With service providers: We use Supabase for data storage and authentication, and TMDB for show/movie metadata. These services process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
We never sell your data.

5. Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.
Row Level Security (RLS) ensures you can only access your own data and data shared by your connections.
Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth with industry-standard security practices.
Profile photos are stored in a secure storage bucket with per-user access controls.

6. Your Rights

Access: You can view all your data in the app (Profile, Queue, Friends tabs).
Correction: You can edit your display name, profile photo, and country at any time.
Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Profile → Delete Account. This is immediate and irreversible.
Portability: Contact us to request an export of your data.
Blocking: You can block any user, which severs the connection and hides their content from you.

7. Children's Privacy

ShareShows is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Cookies and Tracking

The ShareShows mobile app does not use cookies or third-party tracking. This website uses no analytics or tracking scripts.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates the most recent revision.
